Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson was carted off the practice field at training camp this morning. According to reports, the severity of the injury was not known at the time. However, he was able to walk to the golf cart and rode off the field in the front seat.

The Eagles need a healthy Jackson in 2010 in order to be successful. It sounds as if this was nothing serious, but we will be monitoring.

[picappgallerysingle id="3598776"]The Philadelphia Eagles have engaged in a blockbuster trade this Friday evening, hardly noticed by the mainstream sports media. The Denver Broncos have traded RB J.J. Arrington to the Eagles in exchange for LB Joe Mays. It’s hard to imagine how this trade escaped the laser like precision of the media. Arrington has 1300 combined yards from scrimmage and 5 touchdowns in his 4 NFL seasons and Mays has 18 career tackles.

Arrington will likely become the third RB on the depth chart behind LeSean McCoy and Mike Bell.

After missing three days of rookie camp, the Philadelphia Eagles have finally come to terms with Michigan DE Brandon Graham. Graham is considered to be an immediate starter for the Eagles defense this season.

During his career at Michigan, Graham recorded 29 career sacks and 56 tackles for losses. Last season, Graham led the NCAA with 26 tackles for loss. Graham will be a great fit for Philadelphia, providing a high motor guy come off the edge putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

Have the Philadelphia Eagles drafted a superstar quarterback? One of the coaching staff is certainly impressed with rookie QB Mike Kafka after the final practice of rookie camp.

Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg told reporters that he was impressed with Kafka, and he might be the best rookie he’s seen in nearly 2 decades. That’s pretty high praise.

“Within that realm, I think he could be – I’m trying to think back – the best rookie that I’ve ever had in 15, 16, 17  years or something like that,” Mornhinweg said. “So, he’s really sharp. Now, he’s sharp book-wise, but he’s also very intelligent in a football sense. He’s really picked it up very quickly.

“He’s had just terrific minicamps. He started hot and stayed hot. He had a very good practice today and took all the reps. Now, I will say this – he’s got a long way to go. There are so many things he hasn’t seen yet. We’ll see how he progresses,” said Mornhinweg.

This of course could simply be camp chatter, designed to give Kafka some confidence heading into this coming season. Kafka will likely be the third quarterback on the roster this season behind Kevin Kolb and Mike Vick.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid announced Wednesday that WR DeSean Jackson will be in camp on time. Jackson has made it known that he would like a new contract and did miss the final week of OTA’s for what was deemed, “personal reasons”. Jackson told reporters that he understands the complexity of the difficulty in getting a new contract. “With the CBA, it’s tough with a lot of players trying to get new deals and whatever it might be.”

Jason LaCanfora from the NFL Network is reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles have signed second round selection S Nate Allen via Twitter.

LaCanfora reports that Allen has signed a 4 year deal and no monetary issues regarding the contract were revealed. The Eagles needed to have Allen in camp as soon as possible with Allen looking to become the starting safety for the Eagles this season.

Former Philadelphia Eagles S Brian Dawkins hasn’t forgotten the acrimony which surrounded his departure from the City of Brotherly Love. In fact, Dawkins returned to Philadelphia, on WIP to talk about getting ready for the 2010 season with the Denver Broncos. Dawkins is entering his 15th season and coming off his best year ever as a professional.

Dawkins spoke about his off season ritual of preparing for his 15th season and playing safety at the age of 36. You can listen to this entire interview right here.

Dawkins was asked by the interviewers about his departure from the Eagles and whether or not he is still bitter at the team. The answer was transcribed by sportsradiointerviews.com-

“It’s one of those things where you forgive, but you never forget. It will always be a part of who I am as far as remembering some of that negative stuff that went down. But I choose personally to remember all the good times that we had in a winning organization. Things that my teammates, some of whom are retired now including Ike and Hugh and those guys, all the things that we did over those years, including Andy. I still check with Andy, we still check on one another. So those are thing things that I choose to remember because there are far, far, far more great times that I had with the Philadelphia Eagles than not. So I choose to remember those things.”

Could Philadelphia Eagles second round draft pick Nate Allen be signed when the Eagles open training camp this afternoon?  According to Les Bowen from the Philadelphia Daily News, the answer is quite possibly. The University of South Florida standout, Allen, is expected to be the Eagles starting free safety in 2010 and it would be very damaging if Allen were to miss any camp.

Eagles’ Graham a camp no-show?

It is being reported that the Philadelphia Eagles first round draft pick, DE Brandon Graham will be a no show when the Eagles open camp on Monday. Graham was the 13th selection in the first round of this years NFL draft in April.

According to the report, league sources say Graham is a long way from signing a rookie deal. It is also being reported that Graham will most likely be receiving a deal with a 14 million dollar signing bonus, making him the highest paid rookie since the Eagles signed QB Donovan McNabb. Nate Allen joins Graham in the ranks of the unsigned.

I can’t remember a year where so many 1st and 2nd round picks remaining unsigned as training camps are preparing to open. I fully expected a flurry of signings this weekend but that has failed to materialize. Many of the higher round picks have not signed yet as I’m sure their agents are waiting to see what sort of a deal Sam Bradford gets. Bradford is the first first overall draft pick that wasn’t signed heading into the draft in several years, so that is causing a log jam. The other contributing factor is the labor strife surrounding the league.

Either way, it is emparitive that both Graham and Allen get signed as soon as possible, you don’t want these two players which figure to play a valuable role in the Eagles defense this season to miss too much of camp.

Another player under contract wants a new deal, this time the speedy WR DeSean Jackson of the Philadelphia Eagles. Players with multiple years left on their contracts, wanting new deals is become NFL chic this offseason, with the biggest gripe coming from Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson.

Johnson was due to earn 550,000.00 dollars this season and agreed to a pay increase earlier this week and will see approximately 2 million in 2010 after rushing for over 2000 yards last season.  DeSean Jackson has expressed dissatisfaction over his contract, 4 years-three million dollars, but has not threatened any sort of holdout.

According to a league source, “Jackson’s best route is to wait another year before asking for a new contract”.
